DHARMA PRASAAR YAATRA - A UNIQUE EVENT IN NORTH AMERICA
What is the future of Hindus in North America? Will the history of the 20th and 21st centuries yet to be recorded show that the sons and daughters of Bharat who migrated and settled in far away lands not only made major contributions to their professions and to the economies of their adopted lands, but also significantly impacted and enriched their social and cultural lives thus bringing glory to their motherland, Bharat Mata. Would they turn out to be just one of the many nationalities that immigrated to the West and merged into its mainstream losing their identity and value system in the process or would it be recorded that, inspired by their rich culture and tradition, they were instrumental in transforming the society by establishing a new, more humane and harmonious way of life for humankind? If so, how did they accomplish this noble goal?

DHARMA PRASAAR YAATRA addresses these and similar issues. The major objectives of this Yaatra program are to:
  • Emphasize the importance of temples, ashrams and religious institutions in the lives of Hindus in America,
  • Inspire Hindu community to belong to and actively reinforce at least one such institution by teaching/learning scriptures, conducting family Samskaras and religious ceremonies in such places, and
  • Establish interconnectedness among these institutions so that they also convey the essential message of unity despite diversity in practices.

WHAT IS DHARMA SAMSAD ?
Dharma Samsad is an apex body of religious and spiritual heads of the Hindus residing in the Western Hemisphere. This body will also include Dharma gurus who live outside of Western Hemisphere but have large following or draw large number of devotees to their programs.

VISION OF DHARMA SAMSAD
