VHP of America applauds the extermination of Osama bin Laden by valiant US Navy SEALS

On behalf of the Hindu American community of USA, Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) extends its heartfelt congratulations to the political, military and intelligence leadership of USA for achieving the goal of exterminating the symbol of global terrorism and the leader of global militant Islamist group Al-Qaida, Osama bin Laden, on May 1, 2011. We salute and are proud of our valiant Special Forces and Navy SEAL teams who accomplished this onerous task with no casualties.

Although the loss of a loved one can never be overcome, but we hope that this in a small but significant way brings closure for the friends and families of the victims of various cowardly, gruesome and mindless terror attacks, including the one on 9/11/2001, in New York, sponsored and inspired by bin Laden.

It comes as no surprise to us that bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan and it would be illogical to conclude that he did not have support of Pakistani intelligence agency or military.

Pakistan is a known supporter of terrorism and harbors terrorists. Those who hijacked the Air India flight to Kandahar, attacked the Indian Parliament and attacked Mumbai Railway station and Taj hotel have all found sponsorship, guidance and refuge in Pakistan.

In addition to Americans, Hindus were a special target of bin Laden, because of his belief that believers of Murti-Puja (worship in temples with images of God/Goddess), the infidels, can be killed with impunity. It is the same logic that has resulted in Pakistani trained terrorists targeting Hindu Kashmiris for last two decades.

It is a time to celebrate but VHPA believes that we need to remember that the ideology of hate and the religious inspirations that fuel terrorism still exist. Killing of Osama, although a symbolic victory, does not guarantee that the world will now be free of terrorism and therefore we must reiterate our resolve to defeat terrorism, continue to be vigilant and not become complacent.
