VHP of America mourns the passing away of a spiritual leader
His Holiness Sri Sathya Sai Baba

On behalf of the Hindu American community of USA, Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) extends its deepest condolences to the millions of devotees worldwide, on the passing away of His Holiness (HH) Sri Sathya Sai Baba and believes that this a great loss to the human race.

HH Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a spiritual leader, left his earthly body at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, in his Southern Indian hometown of Puttaparthiat at the age of 85 at 7.40 A.M. on Sunday, April 24, 2011.

He was an embodiment of spiritual wisdom, discipline and compassion - a shining star for entire humanity. He will be remembered as one of the greatest spiritual masters from the land of Bharat(India) in the modern times who rekindled the highest ideals of Hindu way of life and Vedic culture. His message of Sanatana Dharma shall continue to reverberate through millions of his devotees in more than 139 countries around the world.

HH Sathya Sai Baba's far-reaching charitable works encompassed children's education, medicine & rural development, temple development besides support of sadhus(saints) and Vedic scholars. All through his life HH Sai Baba tirelessly served the poor, the needy and the ill. HH created high tech multi-facility hospitals, systems that supplied clean water to over 750 villages, and universities & institutions that give free higher education.

HH Sri Sathya Sai Baba had a special affection for the cause of Hindu Unity and cherished a dream for a grand temple of Lord Sri Ram at His birthplace in Ayodhya, in India. He stood with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, India, in its movement against the destruction of Ram Sethu (called Adam's Bridge by the British) which is seen as one of Hinduism's holiest sites. He was very keen that temples, Ashrams and other Hindu religious institutions must not be acquired by the governments as they belong to the Deities and devotees.

HH Sri Sathya Sai Baba will ever remain in our hearts to provide inspiration and guidance. His spirit, message of discipline and purity of purpose shall always remain with us. We pay our humble homage to this great embodiment of divinity. Our many pranams(salutations) to his cherished memory.

OM Shanti, Shanti, Shantih! OM Peace, Peace, Peace!
